Unique Characteristics

The land formation of a taiga is generally flat, despite the abundance of treescape. Occasionally a taiga might include rocky or mountainous geologic forms that lead up to glacial landscape. They tend to be found in places of higher elevation, or in an area containing a generally cooler climate wether due to altitude or latitude. The economic value of a taiga rests primarily with its conifers, used by logging companies to use the wood in building materials, and recreational industries such as ski or hunting companies in its snowy mountains. Some animals, such as salmon, are enjoyed for food. The endangered species in a taiga environment include collared lemmings, the vole or meadow mouse, birch mice, european bison, european minks, snow leopards, red wolves, grizzly bears and bald eagles.
