Dies Irae is Chris French, Joe Capillary, Jason
Wellman, and Brian Seung. We are a local band in (cough, cough) beautiful
Mukilteo, WA. Our music is a mix of metal, classical music, and what we
somewhat affectionately call butt-rock. We are
also influenced by a lot of Japanese bands like X-Japan, Malice Mizer, and
GLAY. If you haven't heard of them, look around on the net. DIES was
formed by guitarist Chris and bassist Joe nearly two years ago as an
experimental music side project, and the addition of new members has evolved and
changed a chaotic sound into an
insane mess. There is a difference,
really.
Drummer Still Needed.
DIES IRAE is in dire need of a drummer, blah,
blah, blah (read News and History).
Anyone in the Seattle-Everett area who has their own set of drums and is
interested in playing heavy-metal and rock style music, please contact me
through my e-mail account in
order to schedule an audition, or just talk or whatever.. We can provide
the place and even transportation if needed.

Rant
If you ever want to know what's going down with the
band look here. I know most of this is pointless crap, but I run the
webpage, so I don't care if you don't like it.
January 11, 2003 - The band broke up. Go away. Stop listening to our music. Here is what happened to the band members: Brian, who tested positive for Ricketts', decided to start playing bass and makes porn groove tracks for hentai. Chris began a cult called KAKAKAKAKAAKAKAAKAKAKAKAKAKAIHATETOSHIKAKAKAKKKAKSUKMAIKAKYOUKAKAKAKAKAKA, and later was arrested for driving a donut truck into the house of a man who spelled the cult's name wrong on his admission letter envelope. Joe discovered he was a genius as he read about Jesus, but then wasted it on a Harvard Degree; he is now a monkey KAKAKAKAKAEr, I mean trainer. I (Jason) am now gainfully employed as a member of the New Red Workers division and am committed to spreading the word of Communism to Africa, and plotting the overthrow of eBay as the worlds foremost Internet auction site. Thanks to all of our fans, whom we love and treasure, special happy family camper style happy happy KAK! Ahem.
September 8, 2002 - Wow, it's pretty much the first year anniversary of this web page. Hooray. If the band was actually doing something, like say practicing, I might have something worth writing here. Hope is still alive though. We're not completely without options, and we're bound to find a drummer eventually. Plus, we'll eventually learn how to play our instruments better. Maybe even learn how to write songs! Anyway, I'll keep both of you fans out there posted if anything happens. Shout-out to Daisuke, Mary, Jessie, Kyle (Alaska! FG.), Jon Bon Jovi, Osamu, Mari, Tamiyo, Yoshi, Yuko, Masami, Kakson, Kazu, Kurisu, Asami, Keiko, Tetsu, Hino, The Vines, and the crew at my store! Oh, yeah... Miyuki too.
June 6, 2002 - Well, I'd just thought I'd put this up, just to let you all know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth or anything. I (Jason, guitarist, webmaster, all around nice guy; maybe) am going to Alaska in two weeks, so there might not be another update until August. The band is in a sort of limbo right now, since we have struggled on for so long without a drummer, so we're taking a sabbatical right now. I've got a few leads though, so I'll keep you posted if we get restored to a more active status. It's possible that more songs might be put up though. Take care.
April 12, 2002 - I really hate web pages
sometimes. FrontPage is pretty lame. Anyway, this main page (none
of the others) is reset back to it's former self from like 6 months ago...
man, it took me forever to make up all the BS that was on here (Joe helped
too). I know it's stupid to not have a back-up copy, but I never thought
this would happen. Oh well... uh.. ignore all the stuff below this,
since it's ancient history.
November 5, 2001 - Hello all... we've got a
temporary drummer for now. He plans on leaving sometime early next year,
so technically we are still looking for a drummer unless somehow the current
circumstances change. Welcome aboard Alex! Your double-bass fucking
dominates! We hope to play shows very soon now that we have a full crew.
In other news, I HAVE TAKEN DOWN THE GUESTBOOK! It really pisses me off that
the only real use for the damn thing is for my own fucking band member to mock
me when I do all the goddamn work on the web page. And no, I CAN'T TAKE
A JOKE, especially when it's done OVER & OVER & OVER even though I've made it
clear that it pisses me off. Maybe I can allow uncensored signing again in the
future. I know it's small of me to act this way, but I do too much
fucking work for this band to get take this shit.
November 2, 2001 - Just put up this update to
let everyone know we're still here. We plan on doing a little recording
very soon, we've pretty much got all of the new equipment we wanted now.
Talks with drummers continue. We plan on playing some shows as soon as
possible. My optomistic prediction: 2 months from now at the
latest. Also, I've added my profile to the "Members" section, omigosh!
October 9, 2001 - Another demo has been added
to the media section. Actually, it's a track off our album, pretty much
the only one that came out sounding right. No vocals from Brian on it...
doh.
October 4, 2001 - Hello gang. We decided
that for now we're going to keep our name. It's not like we copied
anybody. And if we were to change it (which we eventually might have
to), it would be pretty similar anyway. Umm... Chris just bought a
mixer, so now we're going to be able to put up some better quality demos
within weeks. Improving our equipment was the main reason we stopped
recording. Our latest tries had a lot of interference. Not that
you care. Anyway, Ben sucks... whoops, I already said that. Ben
sucks!... oh darn.. must be Tourette's. Bastard! @#$%! Go to hell!
Mother #%#$@%! Think happy thoughts...
October 2, 2001 - Can you
believe it? This web page hasn't even lasted a month and we're already screwed
over. It seems that we have a conflict with our band name.
Literally, it belongs to someone else-a German (or European at least) death
metal band. While it's pretty cool that a death metal band and Chris
& Joe came up with the same name, it's not cool that the metal band came
up with it first (1992). Needless to say, there's going to be at least
talk of changing our name at our next practice. But I have no clue of
anyone else's (the other band members) opinion on this. I think if we
published an album or something we could get sued or whatever. I'm
pretty sure the German DIES IRAE has a contract with an American label.
Anyway, apologies to Novy and those from the other band. The only good thing about this is that Ben from UK (see our guestbook entry)
gets to take it in his punk-ass too. No apologies to that jerk-off. Also, I really hope that nobody else feels the need to use the
guest book as a toy. I'm fed up with insipid pranks from the retarded
masses.
September 27, 2001 - I decided to put the demos
back up. What the hell, it's not like I know everything. Nobody in
the band seemed to agree with me, so I guess they're going back up.
Still going to re-record them though.
September 26, 2001 - How nice. Some real
people actually signed the guestbook. I think. My band-mates like
to mess around, 'cause they're jerks. A lot like some of the people who
signed the guestbook. Actually, I don't really care what gets put in
there as long as you keep the cussing down some. I've taken down the
demos, I think we need to iron out some of the mistakes and use some better
equipment. Thanks to you who made some positive comments. Hell,
thanks to those who even said anything. I'm tired. My icons rock,
so take it in your ass. Oops, I'm sorry, that was rude of me.
September 18, 2001 - Another demo has been
added to the media section - Poison Vial. A nice slow song, ~heh
hUh~. SIGN THE GUESTBOOK!
September 17, 2001 - All right, I think
Angelfire is still screwed up, but now I've zipped the .mp3 and it seems to be
working now. Please give it a try. Yesterday we recorded more
songs and there should be another four on this site by the end of the week, if
all goes according to schedule.
September 16, 2001 - Did I mention that
Angelfire sucks? We plan on re-locating soon.
September 15, 2001 - A demo has been added to
the media section - Death of Yesterday.
September 14, 2001 - More lyrics added and some
corrected. Yay.
September 12, 2001 - We would like to offer our
condolences to those who lost loved ones in the WTC tragedy. Also, on a
far less important note, the e-mail address has changed to a more reliable
one: kazuya@jannedaarc.i-p.com. A guestbook has been added as well.
August 2001 - We now have a
vocalist! Brian Seung joins us as singer and co-lyricist. Newly
charged from an additional member, work on the lyrical aspect of our music
takes off. All throughout this month new songs are written, some as
yet untitled.
June 2001 - Dies Irae puts out their first
disc, an EP titled Kono Sekai wo Koroshite mo
Yasu. The album is plagued by technical errors, malfunctioning
equipment and an incredibly tight schedule. Nevertheless, the cover art
is very attractive.
April 2001 - The two-man band known as Dies
Irae adds a third member to the madness, me. Jason Wellman.
Coincidentally, the quality of songs seems to go down. Must be a
fluke...
