We here at SOS, were given the wonderful oppertunity to interview Britta Phillips. Britta did the singing voice of Jem during the show. She gives very honest answers. Thanks so much Britta!

1.How old were you when you first started singing for Jem?

I was 21.

2. Did you enjoy the expirience of doing the singing voice for Jem?

Yes, it was fun.

3. Did you ever want to do the speaking part of Jem?

I never really thought about that. They recorded all the speaking voices in L.A.

4. How long did it take you to learn the songs and then get them right for the show?

It usually took me about 10 minutes to learn the song and then another 30 minutes to record it.

5. Besides low ratings, and possible low sales on Jem merchandice, do you know any other reasons why Jem was cancled?

The show existed for the sole purpose of Hasbro's JEM doll. Apparently, the main reason for low JEM doll sales was that she was too big to fit into BARBIE clothes (and parents didn't want to shell out the extra bucks).

6. Do you own any Jem dolls? If so, which one(s)? If not, do you own any Jem merchandice at all, and if so, what is it?

I own one JEM doll (who lives with my grandmother). I think my dad might have one as well. I don't own any other merchandise.

7. Did you watch the episodes of Jem while they were on the air?

Well, remember I was in my very early 20s then and the show came on at 8 AM. So....I usually didn't get up that early. I watched it a few times, though.

8. What is your favorite memory from working on the show?

Finding out that I had gotten the job.

9. What is your least favorite memory from working on the Jem show?

Can't remember.

10. What is your favorite song and episode from Jem?

I liked "Only Me And The Music." Don't remember which episode that was, though.

11. What is your least favorite song and episode from Jem?

I haven't seen them all and it's been so long.... I didn't particularly care for the song "Rock and Roll Forever."

12. What do you think of Jem coming back on the air?

I think that would be great but I'm not going to hold my breath.

13. Who is your favorite character from Jem and The Holograms?

JEM, of course.

14. What were your thoughts and feelings when you were told that the show was cancled?

I can't really remember. I had just finished a movie so I was busy and excited with that.

15. What are currently doing now?

I play in a wonderful band called LUNA (bass guitar and backing vocals). I also do some commercial jingles and voiceovers. And I'm writing songs and working on a new album with Dean (from LUNA) on which I will sing some songs.

16. If you could tell Jem fans one thing, what would it be?

Wear sunscreen. Stay in school.
