1960’s
Sindy was launched in September 1963 by Pedigree Toys and was advertised as ‘the doll you love to dress’. The first dolls to be released wore the ‘Weekenders’ outfit. She was 11 1/2” tall, had painted side glancing eyes and rooted hair in a curly bob style - available in blonde, auburn or brunette.

Sindy was given a prettier new look in 1968. She now had rooted eyelashes, a flicked up hairstyle, a twisting waist and was available in four different outfits - Ice Skater, Fashion Girl, Beach-time Girl and Miss Beautiful.

1970’s

In 1970 Sindy was given another new hairstyle - this time she has a centre parting which was kept in place with an alice band. She was still available with hair in blonde, auburn or brunette, but each doll was given a different outfit. Blonde Sindy was sold wearing Weekenders or Midilook, Auburn Sindy wore Fashion Girl or Fun Furs and Brunette Sindy wore Sunshine Girl or Miss Sindy.

2 new innovative dolls were also released in 1970 - Walking Sindy and Lovely Lively Sindy. Walking Sindy had new hip joints so that when she was held at the waist she could be made to walk along. Lovely Lively Sindy was a fully poseable doll with joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, waist, hips and knees enabling her to form ‘lifelike’ poses.
In 1971 Sindy’s face was altered again and she was given a light tanned complexion.

In 1975 another new Sindy doll was released - Active Sindy, which became Pedigree’s best selling doll. She had 15 moveable joints in her body and was sold dressed in a Ballerina outfit.

Sindy Sweet Dreams was released in 1979. This doll was given ‘sleeping eyes’ which closed when the doll was laid down.
