I was never a very religious person. My mom was Catholic and my dad Methodist but they never made us go to church. In fact my mom had some pretty strong opinions on Catholicism and she would have preferred us NOT going. I would occasionally go to church but mostly cuz my friends did and I wanted to be like them.
As I got older I began questioning religion. The only time I would go was when my great-grandmother would ask me to go with her. The only thing I got out of it was they kept asking for money and if you were bad you would go to hell. I didn't find any pleasure in church at all, it seemed like a scam.
My faith in religion came to a close when my dad died. I kept praying for "god to heal" him and nothing. Why is it that god wouldn't answer the single most important prayer in my life.....I just wanted my dad to live.
I know, all you Christians saying if is your time to go then god isn't or can't stop that. Well all I have to say is that is the biggest cop out I have ever heard. My dad deserved to live but "god" was too busy trying to find some idiots keys than to save his life. So I decided that I would rather NOT believe in a "god" who had his priorities so mixed up. I did begin to question the bible more. I kept asking my grandma questions which I think she thought meant I wanted to bring religion into my life again, but that wasn't the case. What I was interested in was how so many people could be brainwashed into believing these myths. It just boggles my mind.
After much research I have decided that there is no "reasonable" proof that supports that there is a god. "You have to have faith" people always tell me. But what is faith? Faith is believing in something with no evidence...... Maybe I am being cynical but I don't have faith in anything. Give me PROOF, concrete evidence and I will buy it but only then will I believe. Would you buy a car without seeing it from a used car salesman because you have faith that he will give you a good deal? Nope you wouldn't, unless you are a total moron, so why should I "buy" that there is a god when I have no proof that the goods can be delivered?
