Okay guys and girls, this isn't a begging letter, this is a request.

As you may or may not know, I am currently working on my first feature film, "The Journey". The budget is set at £30,000. That's £200 each from 140 people. That's not impossible, but I understand that not everybody can afford it. But if you can donate that money, you become a producer on the film, you get a copy of the film, you own a part of the film, and if we make a profit (an estimated £180,000 profit I may add) then you'll get a percentage of that profit. You can also claim the money back if you pay taxes. Even if you can't afford the £200, but you know of someone who can, tell them about it.

There are many other ways you can help me raise the budget for the film - you can buy "Night is Day: Dusk" or "Bottle", my first two short films, for £6 each. You get the DVD with special features, and I get £6 towards the budget of my film. The more people who buy the DVDs, the more of the budget we get covered. You can buy these at http://www.sillyweefilms.co.uk/shop.html

Like t-shirts, mugs, mouse-pads, buttons? Go to the above link and click on "Visit our shop at CafePress" - you can buy that and more, with the logos from Silly Wee Films, Night is Day and The Journey. All of the profits are going towards making "The Journey".

And if you don't want to do any of that, then please just go to http://www.makethejourney.co.uk/help.htm and click on "Donate money" and donate however much money you can spare to afford. Donations over £200 become producers and get a percentage of the profit and a free "The Journey" t-shirt!

We're independent filmmakers, and because our budget is considered as low, the funding bodies won't support us. We're all working very hard on this project to make it as perfect as we can, and a lot of people are supporting us. I'm not saying we're going to be a blockbuster hit, but we can become a cult classic and if people support us on this movie, when we get proper funding to make another movie, we will reward those who helped us with "The Journey".

So please, help Independent Filmmaking - it can be as little as £10.

Thank you

Well I already 'donated' by designing the logo/s, so howabouts you donate me some money instead? If people are buying stuff with my design on 'em I should be renumerated, yes?

that siad, it's freaky seeing something I designed on a throw pillow...

Would it be a fair comprimise to say that your donation to the movie was the logo AND profit earned from the t-shirts, mugs (and yes, throw pillow) with said logo on it, would could as that donation to the budget of the film? I know you've not got a lot of money in the world, but you ain't trying to raise £30,000 to make a film and deal with the day to day disasters that come along with filmmaking.

:)

No, that's true, I'm not trying to raise heaps of money. But I am trying to earn a living as an artist and make sure that I get fairly paid for work I do for people. I just think if people are buying your stuff then they obviously like my design, so I should get something for that.

I was fine doing it for you for some little promotion on your website, but you did say to me that you would pay me for it when you could- and if you sell these products, you would be able to pay me.

Raising money is hard, but you have to pay your dues, sonny.
