I was born May 22, 1923 near McDade, Texas, daughter of George Thomas and Alice May Phillips Dungan. I attended school at a small country school named Fair Oaks, from First Grade through 8th Grade. I then went to school at McDade High School in the 9th Grade then to Elgin High School for the 10th and llth Grades, where I graduated in the Top 10 of my class in 1940.
I married Bill Grossman in 1941. We were blessed with two children, Michael and Patricia. Bill died of a heart attack in 1958. I married Paul Kasper in 1959. We were blessed with 3 children, Paula, Kevin and Timothy.
I went to work in the Lee County Tax Assessor-Collectors Office as Deputy Tax Collector in 1970. In l972 I was elected to the office of Tax Assessor-Collector of Lee County, Texas. I was re-elected to this office in 1976, 1980 and 1984, I retired in December, 1988, at the end of my 4th, four year term. Paul and I did some traveling, but his health began to fail and for several years he was in and out of the hospital. In January, 2000 he passed away.
Now my children and grandchildren are my anchors. I, also, have three great-grandchildren. I, also love to quilt, which I do a lot of.
